The Dairy - A Designers Hub.

The Big Fuss are currently working closely with Designer Tim Rice and his amazing vision; The Dairy, A Designers Hub.

Cardiff's art and design scene is set to be invigorated by the launch of a new venture on 6th August 2010 created by Welsh designer Tim Rice whose recent projects include The North Star which was nominated in the top 18 best designed bars in Britain paneled by The Guardian Life Style, Elle Decoration, Graphik amongst others, The Vulcan Lounge, Crystal Boutique Night Club and Mocka Lounge.

Situated in the old dairy at 200 Kings Road in the vibrant media capital of Cardiff, Pontcanna, The Dairy brings together an eclectic mix of established high-end designers, artists and suppliers to showcase their stylish and innovative products in this amazing unique venue. Rubbing shoulders with the elite and established will be an array of up and coming designers from across Wales who will showcase their exceptional talent under one roof, raising their profile both amongst their peers and potential clients.

Design-excellence, quality and exclusivity is the mantra of The Dairy. Comprising of fixed and temporary displays the exhibition space provide cutting-edge products from all sectors within the design industry. The temporary exhibitions are varied and change fortnightly or weekly, featuring winners from Welsh Artist of the Year, high end fashion and art from various mediums.

The permanent exhibitions are displayed in assorted virtual rooms showcasing the very best in design.

Tim Rice himself has six sections in the centre of the building separated by 1500mm high walls covered with bespoke wallpaper designed by himself. Suspended from the roof above each partition will be great canvases and huge gilt framed mirrors back to back and above the main partition running down the centre catching the light will be a huge church stained glass window. Parallel to the floor creating an extraordinary false ceiling will be a number of empty antique frames of all sizes, some inside each other. Suspended through the centre of each frame will be vintage chandeliers, unusual light fittings or various objects dπarts. The luxurious flooring in each section range from deep ox-blood leather, crocodile skin to the deepest shag pile you will ever see. All products are chosen by Tim and available to order or to just to inspire some people for their own home or venue.

There is a central creative sales person accompanied by a marketing team who will strive to push each and every sector to the maximum, raising the profiles of all companies or designers involved using press releases, advertising and direct marketing.

A row of large striking Greek busts each with a stainless steel rod protruding from each head will hold a stainless steel hand balustrade running across the front of a mezzanine that encases a virtual bedroom, bathroom and office lite using Erco light. A collective of designers place their designs in all sectors throughout the dairy allowing the public to see the best in design in the correct environment under one roof.

There are four large workshops and studios to the rear of the land that house a number of designers from ceramicists, sculptors and furniture designers who will all be inspired by this small community of like minded people and have the opportunity to place their pieces or exhibit them inside The Dairy enabling them to test the water for a period of time without signing long leases until they are able to build there portfolios and go it alone.
